FALMOUTH HEIGHTS
About The Codgers

The Cape Codgers League began in the spring of 2008 as a group of twenty guys playing pickup games and eventually challenging other local softball teams on the Upper Cape. In 2009, the league expanded to three teams totaling about sixty players. That year, our teams played each other in a 16-game season including a league championship.

By 2019, we had increased our participation to over 150 players assigned to 2 divisions and enjoyed a great season of friendship, competition and fun! League members also participate in off season activities including weekly evening workouts at the Falmouth Rec Center (sometimes followed by "strategy sessions" at a local pub over pizza). Winter Ball is also becoming more popular every year with batting Practice and Turf Ball games held at the Falmouth Sports Center.

Autumn brings our Fall Ball season and we continue to play competitive and fun Team softball until the weather turns— sometimes until Thanksgiving! There is also the end-of-year "Codger Family Cookout” and awards ceremony as well as our yearly golf tournament. Finally, each year we celebrate the Holidays with our annual Codgers Banquet, an evening of great food video and drink, video highlights from the season and dancing with invited spouses, family and friends to live music

Some Frequently Asked Questions

How often do you play?
The Codger regular season runs from June to September. However Fall and Winter Ball, plus other activities continue all year long. During the summer, league games are typically held once a week at 5:30 PM, and on some nights, we play a double header.

Do I have to be a good athlete / softball player to join?
No! We have all levels of ability in the league and we try to organize teams in such a way that they are evenly matched. Travel teams that will compete at a tournament level will be chosen by a tryout process. Regular Cape Codger league games are played by all player levels and, quite frankly, are the most fun!

Are you looking for players only?
Definitely not! We invite our friends that are interested in coaching, score-keeping and umpiring. Additionally, people with any organizational ability that would like to be part of the league are very welcome!!

Where do you play?
Games for both D1 and D2 divisions are held at Falmouth Heights Field, Nye Field in North Falmouth and The School Admin Field in Falmouth.

Is there a membership fee / dues? Are there any other costs?
For 2019, the dues were $100 per player. Non players (scorekeepers, umps, etc.) are not charged dues. Dues fund team activities and defray the entry fees for some tournaments. Hats and shirts are included- they are paid for by our generous sponsors!
